White Lion Safaris, with more than 22 years’ experience in the safari industry, is your gateway to Africa. This family-owned business, on 15 000 acres, is situated near the small town of Jagersfontein in South Africa’s Free State Province. In addition, White Lion Safaris has more than 100 000 acres of diverse hunting areas spread throughout the country, offering a total of 38 huntable species.

Trophy hunting
It is no secret that at White Lion Safaris we love what we do and it shows. We are passionate about people and we strive to provide world-class hunting both for plains and dangerous game. Hunting with our experienced professional hunters, you will have all the guidance you need to bring you right up, close and personal, to your next trophy. We are fortunate to have our main hunting camp right in the middle of South Africa, where four of the major biomes come together. This creates a perfectly combined habitat for the 32 dominant species of each of these areas to thrive in! Some species are more dominant in certain areas, with a different landscape, vegetation and climate, and so we have numerous hunting areas, stretching from the Kalahari in the west all the way to the lush, thick bushveld in the north, catering for the true species-specific hunter.
Wing shooting
If you are a wing-shooting enthusiast, look no further than White Lion Safaris. We specialise in all kinds of wing-shooting techniques – from decoying yellow-billed ducks in Zululand to shooting the most challenging game bird in Africa, the turtle dove. All this takes place in sunflower fields in the Free State area, a mere hour’s drive from our main lodge. If geese are your thing, you are in luck. We put out decoys in reaped fields and when the spurwing geese start to descend it will definitely get your heart pumping! The open season for all game birds is from 31 May to 31 August. Expect to have a great time filled with fast-paced shooting. This is a must for the avid bird hunter.
Fishing
Fishing is another great passion of ours and we offer some exciting opportunities. These range from owner and PH Ricus de Villiers’s personal favourite, catching black marlin off the coast of Mozambique, to fly fishing for yellow fish in the tributaries of the Orange River in South Africa. Our fishing trips, or side trips, are specialised and offer a combination of great fishing along with activities like deep sea diving, island hopping, visiting local markets and experiences in some of the most beautiful settings in Africa. Fishing Mozambique is like fishing an undiscovered paradise with accommodation in top-notch luxury lodges, situated on white sandy beaches.
Photographic safaris
Side trips are perfect for planning something extra apart from hunting. We offer a variety of side trips and photo safaris.
